Miriam Davis is the Founder and Director of Virtual Virtuoso Academy. Miriam Davis is a British Concert Violinist. Her online performances since March 2020 have been featured on social media platforms such as Parma Recordings and Classic FM.
A great passion for teaching, as well as a desire to help younger musicians in particular to stay motivated during the COVID-19 Crisis, inspired her to set up the Virtual Virtuoso Academy. Miriam Davis has 16 years violin-teaching experience, and her own playing derives its origins from the French, Russian and Hungarian Violin Schools. Miriam is experienced in teaching pupils aged from 4-70, from beginner to professional level. Private lessons are tailored to the specific needs, strengths and personality of the student. It is a pleasure to support each pupil along their unique route to fulfilling their individual musical potential.

Miriam Davis is a British violinist who has performed throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician. She is a prizewinner in numerous International and National competitions, most recently in February 2020 receiving 1st Prize from Grand Virtuoso International Competition with invitation to perform at Royal Albert Hall London, in July 2019 from Alion Baltic Competition in Latvia, and in May 2019; 1st Prize from International Grand Virtuoso Competition, Amsterdam edition. Other recent prizes include 1st prize from IMKA competition, Virtuoso Belcanto International Competition dedicated to Paganini, and North Online International Competition. Recent and upcoming solo performance venues include Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Stoller Hall Manchester, Elgar Room - Royal Albert Hall London, Stavanger Konserthus Sommerkonsert Series, Temppeliaukio Church Helsinki, Parco Della Music Rome, St Martin in the Fields London and Sage Gateshead Hall 1.
Miriam has also made chamber and solo appearances at the National Portrait Gallery London, Cheltenham and Lake District Music Festivals, Tunnell Trust in Coll, Virtuoso & Belcanto Festival Italy, Apeldoorn International Masterclass, Norwegian Youth Chamber Music Festival, Stavanger Chamber Festival, and Prussia Cove International Musician’s Seminar. At festivals she has had the pleasure to perform with renowned musicians including Laura Mikkola, Gabriele Ragghianti, Michael Bulychev-Okser, Jan Bjoranger and Amaury Coeytaux. Miriam is a keen proponent of contemporary repertoire, including recently giving the Norwegian Premiere of Edward Cowie’s GAD for NyMusikk society in Norway. Miriam specialises in Romantic repertoire and performance style. 2020 sees a return to her native UK in concerto engagements, USA debut concert, upcoming concert-tours and debut CD recording, featuring Ysaye Solo Sonatas and more.
Since 2017 Miriam has studied with renowned French violinist, Philippe Graffin, including receiving her Artist Diploma at Hague Royal Conservatory in 2018. She has also made extended and Masters Degree study with notable musicians including Eszter Haffner, Jan Bjoranger, and Andras Keller at Liszt Academy Budapest. She completed her undergraduate studies at Royal College of Music London, on a full scholarship. She has participated in masterclasses with Pierre Amoyal, Felix Andrievsky, Viktor Tretyakov, Natalia Likhopoi, Kaija Saariaho, Benjamin Schmid, Gyorgy Pauk, Kolja Blacher, Keiko Wataya, Thomas Zehetmair, Amaury Coeytaux, Kungsbacka Trio, Hugh Bean, and Emanuel Hurwitz.
Miriam also has considerable orchestral experience, including guest Concertmaster, and winning a 1st Violin position in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of 23 (with whom she worked for four years, and had the privilege to perform a full Mahler symphony cycle and record all of Shostakovich symphonies on Naxos with conductor Vasily Petrenko), and free-lance work with Royal Northern Sinfonia, London Chamber Orchestra, Aurora Chamber Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, & 1b1 Ensemble.
In her early years, aged 12, Miriam performed as concertmaster of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain in concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London. She also won 1st prize in the James Etherington British Music Competition. As concertmaster of youth orchestra Young Sinfonia, she performed concertos in UK and Europe, as well as a concert for Her Majesty Elizabeth the second and Prince Philip. At the age of 13 she was accepted to the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, in which she went on to perform as Co-Leader at the BBC proms in Royal Albert Hall London.
Miriam is represented by Polyphony Arts since 2020.
